How to make a smoothie:

  1. Something frozen 
  2. Something sweet 
  3. Something smooth 
  4. Extra flavor (optional)
  5. Bonus points for something vegetal  
  6. Liquid to blend 

Something frozen (combination up to 2 cups):
  • Frozen fruits (1 cup)
  • Frozen vegetables (1 cup)
  • Ice (1 cup)
Something sweet: (combination up to 1 cup)
  • If using berries, use 1 more ingredient for sweetness 
  • Dried fruit; raisins, cranberries, dates (not more than 1/3 cup)
  • Apples 
  • Peaches
  • Bananas 
  • Passion fruit 
  • Coconut water (see liquid)
Something smooth (whole fruit, or 1/2 cup):
  • Bananas 
  • Avocados 
  • Pumpkin purée 
  • Nut butter 
  • Yogurt 
  • Oats (1/4 cup)
Extra flavor:
  • Cacao nibs (1/3 cup)
  • Lime juice (1 tbsp)
  • Lemon juice (1 tbsp)
  • Fresh mint (6-8 leaves)
  • Extract (1 tsp)
  • Spices (1 tsp each)
  • Espresso (double shot pressed)
Something vegetal: (optional)
  • Pumpkin puree (1/4 cup)
  • Spinach (1/2 cup)
  • Kale (1/2 cup)
Liquid to blend (1 cup):
  • Whole milk
  • Filtered water 
  • Tea
  • Coconut water (skip if it'll make this too sweet)
