White Chocolate Chai

 


Ingredients:

  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon. 
  • 1/2 tsp ground ginger. 
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper or 10 peppercorns. 
  • 1/8 tsp ground nutmeg. 
  • 1/8 tsp ground cloves or 1 whole clove.
  • 1/8 tsp ground cardamom, or 3 whole cardamom pods (split). 
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract. 
  • 1/8 tsp salt (optional). 
  • 1/2 bar Baker’s White Chocolate. 
  • 1 cup filtered water. 
  • 3 cups Organic Valley Milk (any variety). 
  • 4 Tazo English Breakfast tea bags (tags removed). 
Directions: 
  1. Add water, spices, vanilla, salt and tea bags to a small pot on medium-high heat (6), and bring to a boil. About 5 minutes. 
  2. Stir gently. 
  3. Remove from heat.
  4. Remove tea bags to prevent bitterness and allow spices to steep for 10 minutes.
  5. Return to heat and add white chocolate in individual squares.
  6. Whisk well until it thoroughly melts into the tea.
  7. If using whole spices, strain them out at this point.
  8. Return tea to pot and add milk. 
  9. Continue heating and whisking until hot, but not boiling. About 5 minutes. 
  10. Pour into mugs and top with marshmallows, if desired.
