There used to be a shrimp dish from Panda Express that I was obsessed with, but they've never had it back, and I don't remember what was in it.
So now that they have another amazing dish, I'm going to recreate it while it's fresh.
This also helps because it's hit-or-miss on whether they'll let you order this.
Serve with Spring Greens.
You can also serve it with a 1.5 cup bag of frozen oven baked rice.
Ingredients for the shrimp:
- 12 frozen shrimps per person, thawed and drained.
- 1/2 your favorite onion per person, diced.
- 1 red bell pepper per person, diced.
- 1/2 cup fresh green beans per person, trimmed and ready.
- 1/2 (8-ounce) can pineapple tidbits, per person.
- 2 tbsp butter per person, divided in half.
- 2 tbsp EVOO
Ingredients for the sauce:
- 1/4 cup soy sauce per person.
- 1 tsp garlic powder, per person
- 1 tsp paprika per person.
- 2 tsp dry white cooking wine, per person.
- 1/4 teaspoon Imperial Dragon brand sesame oil per person.
- 2 tsp Louisiana hot sauce per person.
- 2 tsp Ginger People ginger juice per person.
- 1 tsp McCormick dried orange rind per person (optional).
- 1/2 tsp salt per person.
- 1/2 tsp ground black pepper per person.
- 1/2 the juice from 8 oz can pineapple tidbits.
- 1 tbsp cornstarch per person.
Directions:
- Thaw the shrimp, by adding it to 1 to 2 large deli containers and filling them with water.
- prep all of the vegetables.
- measure out the wet ingredients for the sauce, but also put the corn starch with it, and whisk well.
- measure out the spices and put those in a separate container from the sauce.
- set everything next to the stove for easy grab.
- Drain the shrimp and refill it with water until it's thoroughly thawed.
- Drain it one final time, and coat it with as much cornstarch as necessary to coat it.
- Transfer to another container and set it next to your other ingredients by the stove.
- Heat 2 tbsp butter, and 2 tbsp EVOO to a large skillet and cook for 3 minutes over medium-high heat.
- Add shrimp and cook for 4 minutes, stirring regularly.
- Transfer shrimp to a clean bowl and set aside.
- Reduce heat to medium-low, and add 1-2 tablespoons butter, depending on how many servings you're making (up to 2).
- Pour in onions, bell peppers, and green beans. Cook for 12 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Stir the sauce, and pour it over the vegetables to deglaze. Stir well.
- Add shrimp back in, as well as pineapple, and spices. Stir well.
- Turn off heat, and allow to sit for 10 minutes.
