Bobaless Boba Tea

I don't like the gelatin balls in the bottom of my tea, but I love the sweet cheesy, toasty flavor of the tea.

Obviously I'm biased, but this recipe is even better than the boba tea at our local boba tea shop.

Maybe it'll be better than your local shop too.

Serves 2

Ingredients:

  • 1 family sized Lipton black iced tea bag.
  • 8 ounces boiling water (I used the water from my Breville Bambino Espresso Machine).
  • 2/3 cup whole milk.
  • 1 ounce cream cheese.
  • 2 tablespoons caramel syrup (like Hershey's or Great Value).
  • Crushed ice.
Directions:
  1. Put the tea bag into the metal carafe that comes with the bambino, and add 8 ounces of hot water to it by pressing the water button above the steam button.
  2. Allow that to steep while you make the sweet cream. About 5 minutes.
  3. Add 2/3 cup of milk, 1 tbsp caramel syrup, and 1 ounce of cream cheese to a magic bullet, and blend for 1 minute.
  4. Fill 2 large deli containers (or cups) with crushed ice.
  5. Remove the tea bag from the carafe, and carefully give it a squeeze to drain residual tea into the carafe.
  6. Add remaining tablespoon of caramel syrup and stir well with a plastic spoon.
  7. Pour half of the tea over each cup of ice.
  8. Pour half of the sweet cream over each cup of ice.
  9. Stir each with a metal spoon and top with more ice to the top of the cup (since it will have melted a bit under the heat).
